Enrique Zapata

Principal, Data Intelligence and New Technologies
Enrique Zapata is Principal for Data Intelligence and New Technologies at the Development Bank of Latin America, where he is responsible for driving best practices in GovTech and data infrastructures in the region.

In 2018 he was elected as the first-ever Head of the National Anticorruption Intelligence Platform at the Executive Secretariat of Mexico’s Anticorruption System. Previously, he served as General Director of Open Data at the Office of the President of Mexico where he developed Mexico’s first data policy, first Artificial Intelligence strategy, and represented the country in international organizations such as the OECD and OAS.

He is member of the Advisory Board of the Open Data Charter and of the Open Data Institute’s Open Data Leaders Network. In 2019 he was chosen by Apolitical as one of the World’s 100 Future Leaders.

Enrique has a BA in International Relations from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Oxford, and is a Chevening alumni.
